Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

2.Retail stores are closing due to the convince of online shopping because people are now able to order anything they want online, less expensively and with fast shipping.

The who: Retail stores

The what: Retail stores are closing due to the convenience of online shopping

The why: People are now able to order anything they want online, less expensively and with fast shipping.

  1. Testing the who: Big box stores also have this need since you are now able to order ANYTHING online, such as toilet paper.
Testing the what: All stores have this challenge, because a majority of items you can get in any store are also available online.

Testing the why: The “why” does not identify for everyone, but it has significantly increased over the years.   Amazon Prime has changed online shopping forever. When purchasing an item through Amazon Prime, the shopper has the ability to shop sitting on their couch and to receive the item within the same day or the next day.

  1. I agree that retail stores are more obsolete because of online shopping but I also think people still like to shop around in person and go into stores. I only buy certain things online or I'll look at different clothing items to get ideas but then go try it on in the store if I know the store carries the item. The retailers are going to have to come up with a new plan on how to get customers come into their stores. I think selling with sales instead of everyday low prices is a key in attracting customers. Sale signs always attract me. But great job thank you for contributing!

  2. I agree with you retail stores are becoming irrelevant in the digital age especially when a one stop of all place especially with amazon prime which has proven to be close to culture altering. I do think that retail does have a future in this age because the internet will never be able to perfectly align with customer preference and especially with clothing people will always want to have the assurance of seeing themselves in the mirror before they buy it.

  3. Hi Haley, I think that your opportunity in regards to online shopping is very interesting. This is because it represents just one small example of how technology is evolving the economy, along with a consumers everyday life. Soon, will there even be shopping malls? How will in person stores compete with online competitors? I also think its interesting that stores are competing with themselves when they make online versions of their stores. They are still making a profit, but what is the gain and loss in the situation?
